Shahab Naama
Qudrat Ullah Shahab
It is an autobiography of a civil servant who started working in Indian Civil Service and later on served in Pakistan at different positions for many years (most notably as Principal Secretary to the Governor General and President of Pakistan). Shahab Nama has been one of the bestsellers in Pakistan for last couple of decades or so. There are various aspects of the books that a reader could enjoye: it has romance, it has religion, it has mysticism, parts of it are travelogue but one thing is certain that it is a very good account of the history of creation and early days of Pakistan. Shahab’s views might be considered biased by some but then again, which history book isn’t?
