THE Fashion week just came and went over the weekend, and everyone who has anything to do with fashion was in Lahore. There is no doubt or debate that PSFW is the numero uno of fashion weeks and PFDC is constantly trying to raise the bar, and successfully so. This year, there were a lot of firsts, some of which we loved and some we felt we could do without. Having said that we pick out what got a thumbs up and what failed to impress us….here is the yes and no at PSFW17.
THE NEW FORMAT: YES
Solo shows and short grouped shows, the format had us thinking how it will all work out, but having attended the shows, we were very happy to pick and choose what we wanted to watch and what we could sit out chatting with fashion peeps at Cosa Nostra booth. Even though it requires some running about in and out of shows, but the limited seating and controlled access curtailed the rush making the whole thing smooth operationally.
HSY PARANOIA: YES
This man can do it all. Paranoia opened the PSFW17 in style with the right amount of bling, fun accessories, wearable clothes and loads of razz mtazz.
SUNSILK HAIR SHOW BY NABILAS: YES
This is how its done. Unique hairdos, no crazy quirks, all about hair. A great and very enjoyable show by Team Nabila
GENERATION: YES/NO
While we absolutely love the brand, and the concept was great, unfortunately the collection was not as exciting as we would have thought. The quirky messages about Bringing Basant Back and the beautiful customized accessories were not enough to give it a full thumbs up.
KHAADI KHAAS: YES YES YES
Having been my go to brand forever, I was almost at the edge of my seat oogling over what KK brought to the ramp. I think this one deserves a full review, but definitely a yes.
TENA DURRANI: NO
Even though when Ayesha Omar wears Tena we are always enamored, but the collection just failed to impress us.
SANA SAFINAZ: YES
The lawn quality/autheticity might be going down, but true to their signature style Sana Safinaz was elegant, glamorous and very sophisticated chic.
CHANGING CLOTHES FOR SHOWS: NO
Lahori ladies, you really need to relax, I cant show pictures but you know who you are. Don’t change clothes for shows being held on the same day, in the same place, at the same time. Unless you are being paid, then it might be ok!!
MOMINA SIBTAIN ON RED CARPET: YES
3 days, 3 looks, perfect tan, lots of smiles, bang on.
CELEBRITY SHOWSTOPPERS: NO
Really so tired of this. Come and watch the show, let the models to their work. It was great to see Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, Ahmed Ali Butt and Mira Sethi supporting their friends from the crowd, but that should be it.
ZONIA ANWAR: YES
Young and fiery, she is the one to watch out for. Putting up a cohesive collection, we have our eyes on you Z.
HIRA SHAH/ANUM MALIK ON THE RAMP: YES
Fast becoming our favs, these girls have the looks and swag.
