Kamila Shamsie
Being the granddaughter of Begum Jahanana Habibullah, the niece to Attia Hosain and the daughter of Muneeza Shamsie, it is no surprise that Kamila wrote her first novel, The City by the Sea, whilst still at university. Having geared her undergraduate and graduate studies in creative writing, it is no surprise that Kamila’s books have been shortlisted for a number of prestigious awards. Her most famous novel ‘Kartography’ was an instant hit. Even today, the novel is ready by many literature enthusiasts and her books have been translated into several languages. Her most recent novel, ‘A God In Every Stone’ came out in 2014 and is also shortlisted for a literary award. She has been awarded the Patras Bokhari Award by the Academy of Letters in Pakistan for two of her books and was also awarded the Prime Ministers Award for Literature in Pakistan. She has been on the judging panel for several literary awards.
