Are you a Covid Bride? Because for the last 2 years we’ve seen a change in wedding formats. While for some it’s been a great way to bring back the choti si ceremony in the masjid minus the pomp and show and planned memorable events and having a safe Covid wedding.
So in the last 2 years, brides and grooms have come up with their wedding glossary (like, literally) so they can plan their wedding according to the changing times with Covid.
Here are 6 terms that you need to know if you’re a Covid Bride.
YOU’LL HAVE A LATERMOON
Covid protocols sadly call for all new brides to delay their Honeymoon and have a Latermoon. So it may probably take weeks or even months for you to travel to your dream vacay with bae because you won’t be able to travel during the pandemic to international locations.
MINI WEDDING
So you’ll be having a lowy-key shaadi either with your family and a mualvi present (probably 10-ish people) or you can add some friends and extended family and go upto 25 people with all the rasm-o-riwaj, pyar mohabbat and gana bajana, and just make the best of it.
YOU’RE GOING TO BE A COVID BRIDE
You will forever be a Covid Bride – yes! Whether you set a date, get engaged or married (to even having a baby, yeah) the word “Covid” will forever stay with you!
A MULTI WEDDING
A couple of friends I know had their wedding in episodes because they couldn’t have their dream wedding or a grander one as much as they wanted to. So, they had like smaller and intimate events only to celebrate in a lavish and fun way later with their entire khandaan to cherish it.
DON’T “SAVE THE DATE” ANNOUNCEMENT
It’d be wise if you didn’t save the date because considering the way the infection rate has been increasing, thank you Omicron and Deltcron, you may have to post-pone or even cancel the set date. So you’ll have to make another announcement to announce a new date (just as backup!).
A HYBRID WEDDING FOR THE WALAYETI FAMILY
Friends and family who cannot visit from abroad, are not yet vaccinated or at higher-risk may not be able to attend the wedding, but they can join virtually. A hybrid wedding is one that includes an in-person event and a virtual live stream. Time to make that zoom ID?!
