If you are going by the book then being a model entails two important things; the perfect figure AND the perfect height. This is a global rules to start as a model. For us Pakistanis, 5’8” is a particularly good height [we are all generally shorties!] but international models have to be even taller. Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean that short models across the globe, who are not as tall as the industry would like, haven’t made it big. Consider names like Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss, Devon Aoki, Amber Rose, Lydia Hearst, Marisa Miller and more who have taken these rules and broken them for the world to see.
So who are the local girls, who may be a tad bit shorter than the rest but have made their name in the modeling industry?? Clearly they are ladies who inspire you and me 5 ft 3 inches types that we can achieve whatever we set our minds to, even super model status despite the cliches that exist in the industry.
Amna Babar:
Amna B is absolutely goh-or-geous! Perhaps not the tallest of the lot but an incredible presence both on the ramp and in front of the camera. She can carry any outfit with grace and stands out from the rest. There is no wonder why she is on the constant rise in the industry.
Meesha Shafi:
Perhaps one of the most versatile women we know, as evident from our previous post. Meesha Shafi, has taken modelling to the next level with her edgy editorials and constant strive to experiment. Meesha does selective shows and makes her mark in each one.
Zara Peerzada:
Another favorite is Zara P. Petite and delicate, she is a true wonder. While mostly known for shoots, Zara is also a ramp model who can rock the catwalk with her looks and confidence. She might be new, as compared to others, but she is definitely the one to watch out for!
Aaminah Haq:
A senior model and argueable a ‘supermodel’ in her time, Aaminah Haq was a power girl. She is credited with making modelling mainstream and is an aspiration to many young models looking to join the industry.
Mehreen Raheel:
Mostly known for her films and acting but Mehreen Raheel is no “short” of a model [Pun intended]. She has walked numerous ramps and has umpteen editorials to her credit.
