Naveen Qazi of Cashing on Couture and our fab ‘Girl in Karachi’ takes us through Day 2 of TDAP.

TDAP day 2 managed to get its sartorial point across through FnkAsia lust worthy mesh of hefty necklines, news-print skirts and statement jewelry. Huma Adnan’s entire collection was not only cohesive, but also perfectly encapsulated its signature vivid palette, beaded embroidery and hand-worked craft. What I loved the most was the ‘Mise En Dior’ inspired earrings, with a playful desi-twist and the exaggerated gemstone neck-pieces paired with crop tops.
Unfortunately however, the collections that followed FnkAsia, weren’t able to meet the benchmark set. Out of the rest, only Delphi’s decent displayed of kaleidoscopic crochet capes over flimsy western wear, YBQ’s tapered silhouettes and the punchy hues used for the first half of PIFD graduate show managed to hold my attention.
Also, the clothes fairly lacked the oomph factor but credit should be given to an accessory or two – like the wooden ’50 shades of gray’ inspired handbags, Rumi caps and red glittered sneakers – which prevented a snooze-fest in the frow.
Moreover, unexpected rain followed which marked an end of the two-day TDAP Fashion Event and gave us more than one reason to celebrate. Looks like Karachiites need to hold their lawn-horses for the time-being because by the looks of it, the winter has made its dramatic comeback for a kick-ass finale.
