It is difficult to find people who are not just talented in diverse fields but are also willing to share that talent with others. Madiha Hassan is one such person – she recently launched a handcrafted jewelry design brand ‘Anabia’ based out of Lahore and she doubles as a teacher in Beaconhouse National University spreading not only her knowledge of jewelry design but also her experiences as an entrepreneur.
Inspired by her love for art especially miniature sculptures, Anabia is all about the meticulous details. Madiha designs each individual piece herself while the manufacturing takes place in collaboration with a team of skilled craftsmen and artisans including stone graders, to people with the knowledge of special techniques passed down over generations.
Madiha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Jewelry Design and Manufacture from the Beaconhouse National University (BNU) in Pakistan and has spent many years researching and experimenting with the numerous facets of jewelry forms and techniques which distinguishes her from the rest. She aims to revive the ancient art of jewelry that has been buried since the time of the sub-continent.
Recently, she held a pop-up exhibition for her brand at the Dolce Vita Home Luxury & Sleep Store where she showcased her handy work featuring earring, rings, necklaces, bracelets and more. She presented a modern and western twist to traditional techniques using geometrics, asymmetric patterns and impeccable details using quality materials such as stones sourced from Jaipur. Anabia aims showcase three major aspects in their jewelry pieces: the design, the volume with chromatic tones & texture of the stones and the quality of materials used.
While ‘Anabia’ is a recently launched brand it is a welcome addition. It is always refreshing to see success stories by entrepreneurs who are purely relying on talent.
