Alif, episode 19 was thus far one of the best episodes because it summed up every bit of emotion that we had longed to see since Momin and Momina got off to a bitter start. From the dialogues to the characterization and magnetic chemistry between Hamza Ali Abbasi and Sajal Aly, Alif has now picked up pace and we can’t wait to see how these two characters will be further made to break.
Director Haseeb Hassan gave us tender and emotional moments, making us fall in love with Momin and Momina as they find each other through mixed feelings. So, kudos to him for keeping us on the edge of our seats. There is love, spirituality, the need to do the right thing as we see Momin and Momina delve deeper into their lives.
So, here’s what we thought about the episode.
MOMINA RETURNS THE ART WORK IN GOOD FAITH
Momin’s dada’s calligraphy was all that Momin had, however he had to give it to Momina so she could be a part of ALIF, who in return was eager to own them after finding out that Abdul Ala had painted them. But her conversation with Master Ibrahim enlightened Momina on how Abdul Ala had made those particularly for Momin to guide him towards the right path. Thus softening her heart for him and forgiving him for his past follies.
FAISAL’S SUPERFICIAL CALL STUNS MOMINA
Faisal’s surprise didn’t bother Momina as much as the words that he uttered when he expressed how proud she had made him. Which led her to remember the time when he had objectified her for wanting to work in drama’s and movies. His mockery and disgust for her craft when she was a nobody to his superficiality when she had become someone, troubled her. Which also reflects on our society and the way people change in the face of popularity and materialistic gains, consciously or unconsciously.
MOMINA STRIKES A RESEMBLANCE TO HUSN-E-JAHAN
Having gotten in to the skin of her character, Momina breathes Husn-e-Jahan and with Momin not having told anyone that she is his mother, he becomes cemented when he sees Momina striking a resemblance to her And even though, this isn’t something similar to what Husn-e-Jahan went through, but somehow the angle of Momin falling for Momina in that moment, took us back in time when Taha was struck by Husn-e-Jahan.
MOMIN & MOMINA FIND ROMANCE
With much of the episode revolving around Momin and Momina and how they are growing in their respective roles, their subtle attraction towards each other without making it too obvious was a thrill to watch, considering everything that had transpired between them. But the acceptance of truth is something that’s to be credited in setting both of them free, free to forgive and move on and maybe find each other. Cheers to both, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Sajal Aly, these two are refreshing to watch with their powerful chemistry and ability to emote feelings either through silence or words.
SIDDYSAYS PREDICTS ALIF, EP#20
Next weeks’s preview shows that Momina professes to her bestie that she’s falling in love with Momin and soon things turn sour when we see Momina slapping Momin refering to Husn-e-Jahan and how she was perceived. And that is something to look forward to.
