Maintaining a work-like structure from home during this isolation period is super awkward for a lot of us because we aren’t atuned to working-from-home in Pakistan. We prefer being in the 9 am – 5 pm time zone and anything out of the ordinary can and has riled up our frame of mind. However, it is what it is, therefore we’ll have to make the best of the situation that we are in.
While work-from-home may not be the ideal solution, but you can come around it if you have a plan and how you intend to go about the rest of the days ahead. And since we work from a lot, therefore, these tips will help you in making the best of what we have.
WAKE UP EARLY
If you’re an early riser then it shouldn’t be a problem, however set the alarm for 9 am everyday and be out of bed if you want to structure you’re day to reap more productivity out of it.
DON’T SKIP BREAKFAST
It’s true, a good hearty breakfast everyday can kick-start your mornings like Superman. Go in the kitchen and make your own breaky and avoid a lazing-on-the-cough-in-your-pj’s. You’re going to set the tone of the day with this very important meal.
SHOWER & DRESS UP
Believe me when I say this, take a nice warm shower will not only rejuvenate you, but prepare you to take everything you want to do in the day, head on. And dressing up in a nice casual outfit (and if you’re a gal, a bit of makeup) will put things in perspective for you. There is nothing better than the feeling of looking your best so you can achieve more.
MAKE A TO-DO LIST EVERY NIGHT
I feel that making a to-do list in times like when you’re working from home makes it easier for you to stay on track. These lists are reminders to not take things like having a job or even tasks to check off for granted. This also helps in knowing how effective and smart you’ve been.
STAY CONNECTED WITH YOUR COWORKERS
Don’t become a recluse, instead stay in touch with your colleagues on via social media, emails or video calling apps, and let the concerned persons know what you’re upto and share the milestones you’ve achieved thus far. Discussing and sharing opinions about your work will not give you that odd feeling of working from home, rather it might make things exciting for you. You never know!
TIME YOUR BREAKS
You don’t have to be a robot while you work from home during isolation, instead take regular breaks, for example, lunch breaks, tea breaks or if you feel do damp, walk around for a bit. But do as you would if you were in the office, making your own tea, scrolling on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. BUT DON’T OVERDO IT.
IT’S A REAL JOB, TREAT IT LIKE ONE
At the end of the day, you have to realize that this is a job, you’re working for someone and are expected to get things done on time. Therefore, don’t drop casual about it or too chill to care. You’re somebody, you have to be somewhere and we will be out of this rut soon, so work for everything that you are and need to do.
THINK POSITIVE
These are stressful times, worrying headlines, thinking about your family and friends and even your own health can take a toll on you, but do not lose hope. By thinking positive you are making yourself feel less isolated and by having a routine will show you a path that is not too bleak if you take the right steps.
