Sinf-e-Aahan ep 5 was a refreshing and power-packed episode that highlighted every girl’s character and how their individual decision to join the armed forces impacted their families. So, it was heart-warming to see how their families felt and to learn about their future plan of action.
Last night’s episode of Sinf-e-Aahan flowed brilliantly and the pace was apt as we were introduced to the final character, who’ll be joining the gang of girls, Nathmy Parrera. I appreciate how Sinf-e-Aahan ep 5 gave equal screen time to every single character and their personal journeys in such a nourishing way, that you feel instantly connected to them and in a way, assess how their situations should be as their paths unfold from there on.
RABIA’S FAMILY
Rabia’s small but close-knit family has some lovely dimensions. A caring, but supportive brother who will speak up for her rights when needed, a father who understands where his daughter stands in life and reminds her to be wise in her decision-making, and a mother (like any desi woman), who wishes her daughter gets married, but at the same time she also encourages her. Everyone’s happy for her and wish her the best, in spite of their fears and concerns.
PARIWESH’S DREAMS
Pariwesh’s father had already won our hearts so it was no surprise that he’d be elated after learning that she has pass the test. Furthermore, I was excited to see how satisfied her mother also was. Pariwesh is going to be the first girl in their tribe to join the army, which obviously comes with some worries as well (read: Sardar sb), who’s son is also going to join the army. It’s so commendable that Pariwesh’s father is going out of his way for his daughter. I was truly touched by the scene when Pariwesh was watching TV with her family about the armed forces with “awe” in her eyes.
SHAISTA’S SUCCESS
I was so relieved to see Shaista’s fathers reaction on her win on the ISSB test. I mean the he was portrayed earlier made me think that he and daadi would cause trouble, however he totally surprised me for behaving utterly supportive and happy. Shaista has such a blunt but loving way of dealing with her family as she stands up for herself and gender discrimination in our society, that it looks very convincing and real. As for daadi, she may not be happy with the outcome considering she comes from a different generation and mindset, but I liked how she in her own way wished Shaista well as she went for the medical test after hearing Shaista’s endearing speech. And then the scene in the bus did swell me up. The importance of educating our daughters truly goes a long way.
EX-FRIENDS MAHJABEEN & RABIA’S TALE
Now we sort of, finally know the reason behind Rabia and Mahjabeen’s friendship. Rabia wanted Mahjabeen to marry her brother, however she isn’t sure how they both feel about each other. So I liked the way, Rabia didn’t approach that matter emotionally and wanted to weigh everything first. So Mahjabeen didn’t think about Daniyal that way which is why both the girls drifted apart? I want to find out more because the Sinf-e-Aahan ep 6 promo will definitely have some encounters.
NAUREZ GIVES ARZOO AN ULTIMATUM
My heart kind of goes out to Arzoo probably due to her circumstances at home and her toxic relationship with Naurez. Upon hearing that she had passed the test, instead of being happy for her. Naurez was displeased as he felt left out and unimportant since Arzoo chose not to listen to him. Arzoo has always been just an option for him therefore he doesn’t waste much time in telling her and gives her an ultimatum that if she enters the army, who will she choose, Naurez or her passion? Naurez’s psychologically manipulative ways hurt Arzoo and we know that deep down she realizes it that she deserves better, however due to her family status, the need to join her name to someone who is doing socially better than her, would bring some kind of peace and semblance, not to her, but her family who have unconditionally supported her.
MEET NATHMY PARERRA PLAYED BY YEHALI TASHIYA
It was exciting to meet Nathmy Parerra, who is due to move to Kakul for her 6 months training. And we immediately given a flashback of her life, who she, what drives, what she wants out of life and what could possibly happy. The idea to see someone completely opposite, practically a foreigner to join the ladies add a lot of dimension.
OUR VERDICT
Sinf-e-Aahan ep 5 was a winner for me and the entire cast and plot swept me away. From the dialogues to the scenes, editing, trips down memory lane and meetings, was spot on. And now I can’t wait to see Sheheryar Munawar make his start appearance in next week’s episode.
