The countdown for BEST PAKISTANI DRAMAS 2022 has just been rolled out.
While 2022 gave us multiple hits, but we narrowed down drama serials that covered all the elements, like how well the script was written, to how engaged we were in the show to the performances from the lead and supporting actors.
This year has given some good shows versus some that we will be adding to the list of “worst Pakistani dramas 2022”, which we will be sharing later.
But here are the best Pakistani dramas 2022 and even though they did have some loopholes, but they managed to keep us involved.
SINF-E-AAHAN
What worked for Sinf-e-Aahan and making it one the best shows of 2022 was to the notions that we as a nation need right now; stability, equal opportunity, friendships and individual growth.
At the base of Sinf-e-Aahan that was not your average drama depicting the life of cadets, the drama dealt with the social and emotional pressures and norms that are designed for girls, so how they manage to come through and still stand tall made Sinf-e-Aahan our pick.
PARIZAAD
Parizaad was more than just a story that the viewers carried with them. To highlight the lives of socially awkward individuals struggling with an inferiority complex and an imposter syndrome through different settings in life and people you meet along the way was amazing.
Ahmed Ali Akbar was exceptional as Parizaad and his portrayal of a man who is suffocating in a self built prison with unfulfilled desires. But the writer brought the show to a perfect end with Zindagi mohabbat ke bina kaati ja sakti hei maqsad ke bina nahin (Life can be lived without love, but not without purpose.)
BAKHTAWAR
We all know how exceptionally talented Yumna Zaidi is, so she emulated Bakhtawar in a very appreciable way by playing different characters and adding layers and emotions to their story, all the while remaining the same person at the core. So you remain focused on the lead role as she carries the weight very well without much support from the supporting cast.
Bakhtawar kept us engaged by showing us different perspectives while highlighting real life issues that women face in the real world and we were impressed by this attempt!
HUM TUM
Hum Tum was perhaps one of the best Ramzan special of 2022 and you all know why. It wasn’t just plain humor, but it had meaning too. Family banter and equations, to highlight relevant issues layered brilliant performances by Ahad Raza Mir and Ramsha Khan, Sara Khan and Junaid Khan.
Every single character had their own dimensions, objectives and dynamics, which was a great thing to see, including the supporting cast. So, Hum Tum ended up being a wholesome Ramzan special where the script and the actors were strong and commendable!
DOBARA
Dobara became a hit for it’s unique story line and jetted off on a very note about a widowed woman who breaks all barriers by choosing herself and ends up finding solace in the arms of much younger man.
In a patriarchal society like ours where women are questioned for their thoughts, opinions and ideals, Dobara was like a breath of fresh air that aimed to put archaic notions about sacrificing your lives and your own happiness for your family in spite of everything.
Hadiqa Kiani and Bilal Abbas were paired opposite each other and brought Mehru and Mahir to life. While the show saw many loopholes and cliches, a predictable plot and sometimes twist, we over all found ourselves intrigued with, and glued to Dobara.
JO BICHAR GAYE
Jo Bichar Gaye might not have been a commercial hit, however to highlight the incidents that to the East Pakistan tragedy was a brave move. Based on the book written by Col. Z. I. Farrukh, who also played a significant role as the protagonists in the story., was one of the army men taken in as prisoners of war when Dhaka fell in 1971. That time was all about deportation, ethnic cleansing, mass murder and genocidal rape.
Wahaj Ali as Rumi, Maya Ali as Sonia, or Taha Chahour as Captain Farrukh to the supporting cast with Nadia Jamil, who made her comeback, managed to shed light on theories, conspiracies and played all the facts right in Jo Bichar Gaye.
