The political thriller is a genre that isn’t explored much in the universe of Pakistani dramas. HUM TV’s Meri Shehzadi not just taps into this rare genre but accomplishes the viewers’ attention and keeps them intrigued by the proceedings with crisp episodes week after week. With well-defined characters, a watertight plot and a career-defining act by the protagonist Urwa Hocane, Meri Shehzadi is simply a rage. The drama serial also stars Ali Rehman, Sonia Mishal, Atiqa Odho, Nauman Masood and Qavi Khan. It is written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Qasim Ali Mureed.
THE PARTY CHAIRMAN GUIDES DANIA
Episode 15 ended with Dania seeking khula with Shehroz (Ali Rehman). The party chairman however intervenes in their personal matters as he doesn’t want to lose his potential candidates. He tells Dania that a single wrong move would finish everything. She has the spark to make it big in the world of politics, therefore she shouldn’t be wasting any time in these household fights and look at the bigger picture. What if, Shehroz has another woman Cam (Sonia Mishal) in her life? Politics is in her blood and she should make the most of it. The public loves her unconditionally and she should enjoy her strong political standing.
DANIA RETURNS TO HER CHILDREN
Dania decides to go back to her children and is quite shocked to see the careless behavior of the house help taking care of her children. She rushes to Shahna’s (Atiqa Odho) office to have a word with Shehroz to make him realize that their children are ill and he isn’t aware of that. Shahana as usual says her the ugliest things in the world, Dania gives the former a shut-up call on how they have made her life into hell. Dania is now fearless and will fight injustice till her last breath.
SALAHUDDIN APOLOGISES TO DANIA
Salauddin (Nauman Masood) apologizes to her daughter for not being a supportive father. Dania expresses her pain and wonders what makes him so helpless that he can’t keep up with his relations. She recalls the past and questions him that not even once he bothered to meet her while growing up. Salahuddin makes Almas her excuse for his wrongdoings. Dania gets fed up with this explanation and is shocked that how come Almas has hijacked her father.
DANIA JOINS THE ASSEMBLY
Dania joins the assembly and focuses on her career. She gets another selfish advice from Shehroz that they should be doing a magazine cover shoot to face save the family image. Dania has always been a god-fearing woman, even before her marriage she used to help the needy and feed the poor. Now when she has the power to do something for them on a bigger scale she inaugurates a foundation for the orphan children.
CAM’S PRESENCE SHOCKS DANIA
Shehroz is in regular touch with Cam, he even receives her video call in front of Dania. The latter tells her to go out of the room and continue his romance. Cam is upset about seeing his husband on the magazine cover and makes a surprise entry in Pakistan. Salahuddin tells Shahana that she can’t live in this house. Cam gets blamed for showing up all of a sudden. Shehroz as usual defends her. Finally, Dania comes back home and is shocked to see her. She asks her to leave immediately which she doesn’t. The episode ends when Shahana tells Dania she will soon be making a lot of trouble for her. So be ready!
SIDDYSAYS THINKS
What works the most for Meri Shehzadi is good writing that works big time with Urwa Hocane’s believable and solid acting prowess. Watch out for Hocane in the sequence when she walks into Shahana’s office and breathes fire OR the way she reacts on seeing Cam back in the house. Her postures, gestures and entire body language gives her enemies a clear indication that she isn’t afraid of anyone now. She can identify between the good and the bad. Urwa has delivered several memorable performances but this is surely one of her best. No other actor could have shouldered the responsibility well and done justice to the central character of the enterprise. The teasers of episode 17 reveals some bigger plans for Dania. Let’s see what happens next.
