Meri Shehzadi is a political thriller done just right. The drama serial gives us a much-needed break from the run-of-the-mill content being aired on national TV. The show with a strong pace and something or the other happening ever week is lauded by viewers. Written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Qasim Ali Mureed, Meri Shehzadi airs every Saturday at 8:00 OM on HUM TV, and stars Urwa Hocane as the lead protagonist.
DANIA’S MENTAL HEALTH DETERIORATES
Dania is going through a rough phase in life; her health continues to worsen. Dr. Hassan (Farhan Saeed) visits her place and motivates her that she will get well soon. In the mid of their conversation, Dania gets up and starts walking toward her room to sleep. Dr. Hassan is shocked to see her condition, he tells her grandfather Sanaullah (Manzoor Qureshi) that they need to consult a physiatrist before it’s too late. On the other hand Sanaullah is also worried about Dania not being able to attend the court session for her children’s custody. If the situation remains the same, Shahroz (Ali Rehman) will win the case.
DANIA GOES MISSING
Sanaullah walks into Dania’s room to wake her for the appointment. Dania responds strangely to him and after a while starts walking towards the exit and leaves the premises. She completely loses self-control and goes missing. When Sanaullah gets to know about this development, he calls Dr. Hassan for help. The latter tries his level best and finds Dania. She was found unconscious by the roadside and was brought to the civil hospital by street beggars.
THE BIG REVELATION
The on-duty doctor informs Dr. Hassan that Dania is being given high tranquilizers that have caused blood clotting in the brain. Dr. Hassan shifts Dania to the hospital for an elaborate checkup. Meanwhile, he also calls a press conference to show the world how Dania has been trapped and the people responsible for this will be behind the bars. Dania comes out of consciousness and inquires about her children. Sanaullah tells her the reality and Dania is in a state of disbelief. He has also fired the nannies responsible for this. Dania questions as to why life has been a battlefield for her?
DR. HASSAN’S SUPPORT FOR DANIA
Sanaullah tells Dania about Dr. Hassan’s efforts, and how he stood like a rock during their tough times. During her stay in the hospital, one day Dania finds a bouquet by her side with a sweet note by Dr. Hassan. After a while, he visits her and requests her to step forward and break the shackles and be open about her feelings to him.
SHAHANA AND CAM’S CONFLICT
Shahana (Atiqa Odho) doesn’t let go of any opportunity to insult Cam (Sonia Mishal). The CM wants Shahroz to focus on his political career and makes him attend all the party meetings. This doesn’t go well with Cam and she gives Shahana and Sheroz a taste of their own medicine. She makes them realize that she isn’t Dania who will spend her entire life crying. She leaves the house and files for divorce.
SIDDYSAYS THINKS
Talking of performances, Urwa Hocane is simply a revelation. Right from the first episode, she shows great consistency and nails her part with precision. She holds the premise with her strong persona and grabs the viewers’ attention. She astounds us on various occasions, especially in the vulnerable and emotional sequences. Urwa shows how talented she is. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that her magnetic charm as Dania comes across as her finest performance to date. Meri Shehzadi is now inching toward its end and it would be interesting to see the major developments shown in the teaser of episode 25.
