The dynamics of entertainment are changing rapidly. With the advent of OTT, viewers have
now become more aware and informed of what to watch. Resultantly, the saas bahu sagas
and stereotypical storytelling have witnessed a decline. As of now, meaningful content will
stay afloat and mediocrity will sink. HUM TV’s Jhok Sarkar is a prime example of good-
quality content and continues to spellbind prime-time viewing. Directed by Safie Hassan,
written by Hashim Nadeem and produced by MD Productions, the drama serial is a treat for
avid drama viewers.
ASP Arsalan Halts 3rd Degree Torture For Mukhtara
Mukhtara (Adeel Afzal) refuses to speak up despite being in remand for four days.
Inspector Asghar (Mazhar Suleman) recommends ASP Arsalan apply third-degree torture
to get things going. He also reminds him that after the remand is over Meeral (Usman
Javed) would try his level best to grant him bail. But ASP Arsalan has a different strategy.
He isn’t convinced by the idea of torture, he feels that Mukhtara can blame the police for it
and things might not go in their favour.
ASP Arsalan Shows Concern For His Subordinates
ASP Arsalan overhears the conversation between Ghaffar and Kudan Maseeh (Asad
Mumtaz) discussing their financial crisis. It all begins with smoking cigarettes of how they
can only afford to have it the first fifteen days of the month. The last fifteen days are
difficult to cross and they have to take necessities on credit. They wish that someone would
take this matter to the higher management and get them an increment.
ASP Arsalan in a friendly gesture asks Ghaffar for a cigarette. He further tells him to
decrease the count of the cigarettes he smokes in a single day. He shares his personal
experience that he sends a major chunk of his salary to his parents. He hasn’t got the
privilege of smoking cigarettes as he has responsibilities on his shoulders. ASP advises
them to focus on their primary needs instead of wasting money on cigarettes.
SIDDYSAYS Thinks
Eighteen episodes down, Jhok Sarkar continues to engage and attract viewers due to the
intriguing premise and class acts. Like always Farhan Saeed as ASP delivers mature and
nuanced performance. He steals the show in the scene where he intelligently explains to his
subordinates to leave the habit of smoking. He single-handedly takes the responsibility of
Jhok Sarkar on his shoulders and passes with flying colors. This is an act that requires him
to be on point and Saeed makes it happen on every occasion.
