palatino;”>SiddySays caught up with Adeel recently to bring you a special Heart To heart with the newest Pakistani heartthrob across border.
palatino;”>AC: I come from an army family, meaning I was brought up in a disciplinarian fashion with high expectations of me. My parents wanted me to be an engineer or a doctor, the two most popular professions back when I was growing up, but I always felt inclined towards performing arts. I used to play the piano from an early age. At 19 I landed my first modeling venture with Pepsi Pakistan. It was a series of ads that were shot in India by the ad guru Prahlad Kakar. The rest as the cliché goes, is history. In Prahlad I found a guide and a mentor who is still my pillar and guide into the world of acting and glamour.
palatino;”>AC: Yes it is true. After my first venture into modeling I came back from India and pursued a dentist degree in Lahore at KEMC. I am certified to perform a root canal!
palatino;”>AC: Well my true calling was still the performing arts and I went back to India in a couple of years to meet TIPS. I signed a 5 albums and 5 movies contract with them in 2008. I released ‘Koi Chehra’ my album which was a big hit there and in Pakistan. My biggest break came when I sang a song for Shahid Kapoors film Kismet Konnection called ‘Party’ for which I also bagged an MTV popular choice award.
palatino;”>AC: My last album called ‘Raat Ruk Jaa’ came out in 2013 and I have released 3 videos from the album as well, one of them featuring the beautiful Miss Brazil.
palatino;”>AC: No after spending 2 years in India following my initial music projects I ran out of work since TIPS had some issues and was not producing the films I had signed a contract for. I took some time off and went to NYU to study film making and acting. I returned to India in 2013 and signed the film Rhythm which is now ready for release.
palatino;”>AC: Rhythm is a big budget musical romance. Shot in Poland and Prague it’s a visual treat with a lot of soulful music. My co star is a Bengali girl Renal currently living in NY. I am playing a high school Mumbai boy who goes abroad for studies. Even Salman Ahmed of Junoon is doing a cameo in the movie. It looks really promising; I’m excited to say the least.

palatino;”>AC: Haha, yes that was also a fan boy moment for me, and completely unexpected. I was working on a series of ads for an edible Indian brand with SRK. He is playing my elder brother in the series of ads. We have shot 3 ads already and going to Romania very soon to shoot the final ad of the series. On one of the shoot days SRK walked up to me and said come on Adeel let’s take a selfie. I was truly humbled. He is a great actor and an even better human being.
palatino;”>AC: Not exclusively. I recently did a play in Pakistan for a satellite channel by the name of ‘Zinda Dargor’ which is on air these days. I am working on some music projects here too, and I will keep working in Pakistan as long as there is quality work and public demand because I feel as far as content goes Pakistani content is way stronger.
palatino;”>AC: Immediately I’m looking forward to shooting with SRK in Romania. The guy is an institute. I love doing musical shows and have performed for the Bachchan family so hopefully I will do more of that. And last but not least I am doing another film in Bollywood starting this year. So there is a lot to look forward to.
SS: Any words of wisdom to the boys and girls who want to follow your footsteps?
