I have always been one for minimalism when it comes to dressing up. One’s look is definitely an area where less is more stands true (that doesn’t mean less clothes, just simplicity). The madness of print and the obsession with styling every piece with all the trends piled one on top of the other was never to my liking. In fact, I really struggle to find pieces I like.
Also, I feel the effortless my look is, the more confident I feel carrying it. This is why Amir Adnan’s Fall 2017 collection caught my attention. It is structured around the confident, independent, unrestricted youth. As a brand that has been around for a long time, evolving and embracing the values of the new generation is quite refreshing to see. Not very Lahori, but the collection captures the spirit of the confident youth. Cuts and prints used are bold yet elegant. Ambiguous silhouettes make garments universal. We see this particularly in the flared pants that, worn under a relatively more fitted top, gives an a-line structure to the outfit.
I especially like the androgyny represented in the designs, the bold prints that are OTT but just right to represent freedom of choice. The unconventionality, of the colors and cuts all pointing towards the fact that its the person who wears the clothes, not the clothes that wear the person is what we need. It doesn’t matter who you are, boy or girl, it is your persona that comes through when you wear these clothes and that is what is important.
If you are also looking for a change in how you wear your clothes this fall, you definitely will fall in love with what Amir Adnan is saying (making).
