Ayurveda is one of the oldest medicinal system that takes on a holistic approach towards the mental and physical well being and Arammish has introduced the art of healing. Ayurveda pays close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs, thus promoting a good sense of self over all.
We delved into finding more about this science of Ayurveda and what exactly it offers.
SiddySays: What is Ayurveda?
Ayurved, the ” science of life ” or longevity is oldest healing science in existence and is thought to form the foundations of all others. The knowledge of Ayurveda is said to have been received by sages or seers through meditation observation of nature and according to some, from God to Angels and finally to humans. Unlike western medicine Ayurveda prescribes individualized healing methods ranging from lifestyle and nutrition, to herbal medicines, massage, yoga and meditation as well sounds and aroma therapy. Interestingly the roots of Ayurveda can be traced back to Taxila.
The primary principle of Ayurveda is that each individual is dominated by one or two of the five elements (wind, water, fire, earth and ether) which determines the constitution of the person and forms the basis of the individuals emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health and imbalances. According to Ayurveda, if we seek to live a healthy joyful life with a strong immunity and energy we must live and eat according to our unique constitution or ” Dosha“. This requires a strong knowledge of oneself and the healing properties of different foods and herbs. This is not completely alien to us because in our society we have long been aware of the small wonder nature based remedies can work, its just that modern medicine has taken over so much that it has made us doubt our own roots and indigenous knowledge, which is what the western world has always managed to do.
SiddySays: What is your experience in this field?
I have been formally studying Ayurveda since 2 years at the Ayurveda Institute UK and I started practicing it exactly one year ago. I have treated people with issues related to hair fall, chronic constipation, bloating and water retention, hyper acidity and weight.
SiddySays: How does one start to learn about the Ayurvedic way of life?
Ayurveda is a way of life and the art of simply knowing more about yourself and how you are affected by external factors through observation and presence of mind. The first step is to hone into what your body is telling you. Listen to it, it is always saying something. Just start to notice little things like how your body feels after eating certain things when is your digestion is optimal and when is your energy optimal or what the correlating factors are. Do you feel dryness in the body? Heat? Cold? Anxiety? Try to adjust your diet and routine to heal yourself if you can. And if that seems too difficult to start on your own, that’s where I come in.
SiddySays: How can you help someone wanting to benefit from Ayurveda? And what kind of treatments do you offer?
I offer consultations to help people identify their dosha and imbalances, and I design diet and detox plans along with natural hand made medicines to aid detoxification and strengthening of the digestive system. I can help people to tackle specific issues like insomnia, IBS, lack of energy, bloating and acidity, constipation, weight gain, skin and hair health and immunity building.
SiddySays: What do these treatments cost?
