Laughing is the perfect medicine to all things wrong in our lives these days, be it the electricity bill or an old muscle pain resurfacing due to the weather. So if you have a Netflix account by any chance – do yourself a favour and start watching one of the best sitcoms it has to offer right away.
From A Good Place to Fuller House (still sad they took Full house off their list tho) – Netflix has a wide variety of good comedy shows to choose from. The IT crowd was especially funnier than expected given the bland set of the show. Seinfeld was somewhat funny as well but maybe it caters to people from a specific time period because it does have a lot of offensive scenes about different cultures and harsh jokes.
So after careful viewing and reviewing, we have created a list of the 5 best sitcoms to watch on Netflix in 2022 for you. These top sitcoms will surely leave your tummy aching from laughs and maybe leave a valuable lesson as well.
1. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
The show revolves around a bunch of detectives who solve crimes and win our hearts one day at a time. I think the writers and producers did a tremendous job with this show along with the actors. They highlighted different issues with the sensitivity required, got their points across and left us laughing many times as well. B99 is by far the most woke show I have seen with the best character arcs.
Favourite Character: Charles Boyle because of his undying love for all
2. FRIENDS
To be honest, I didn’t like friends in the beginning because of how much traction it got but when I got to watching it I understood the reason. The show focuses on a group of 6 friends who gossip and backbite and are sometimes even mean to other people who have done nothing wrong to them but yet ends up leaving us light and positive. All lead characters had their quirks like all humans do and were selfish from time to time like people are in real friendships. The only difference between them and reality is that they let go of huge things and made up when in reality people might not be able to do so.
Favourite Character: Chandler Bing because he’s the least mean and selfish of all others at a conscious level
3. ONE DAY AT A TIME
One day at a time tells us that no matter how bad the day goes, we will have a new day tomorrow to make the most of it. The show has references to Cuba and throws light on the life of immigrants. It tells us how difficult it can be to get acceptance in a new country despite being permanent residents and citizens and how not everyone is the same. The main focus of the show however is family and its importance. We often feel tired and exhausted from our family but at the end of the day – we also can’t live without them.
Favourite Character: Lydia for not losing her humanity even in the face of war and being the best grandma
4. ALEXA & KATIE
This feel-good series was sweet and bitter at the same time focusing on the life of a sick girl and her best friend. It shows us how difficult life can get for cancer patients even when they are doing better and how they try to make the most of it. It also focuses on mental health and the strength of friendships – healthy friendships – to combat any problem that comes our way.
Favourite Character: Katie for being the best best-friend one could ask for
5. COMMUNITY
Community teaches us that it’s never too late for anyone. Whether you’re 60 or 20 – you can always choose to turn your life around as long as you want to do it. The show much like B99 and Friends focuses on a group rather than having just one main character. The story begins with a study group coming together in a community college and touches on different topics from mental health to envy and dysfunctional friendships.
Favourite Character: Troy and Abed as a duo – for normalizing kid games from grownups and showing us that best friends can make anything fun together
CONCLUSION
If you haven’t already watched these show – now is the time for you to do so. These are by far the best sitcoms on Netflix and have several teachable moments. If you have already watched them then maybe it’s time to binge them again because hey … they’re too good to be done with just once. If you’re too tired of the weekend and want to a lazy day with your friends just throw in some chips and coke along with one of these shows to binge and you’re set for the day.
