Fahim Burney’s College Gate is a triumph, especially with the teens. The drama serial gives viewers a much-needed break from the saas-bahu fiasco, love obsession, bechari woman, and more such run-of-the-mill genres. The show works big time due to its interesting characters written by Ali Sikandar. Episodes seven and eight were jam-packed and quality content. Let’s review.
Annie’s (Mamya Shajaffar) mother played by Arjumand Rahim asks her about her choice of life partner. She replies that he should have all the qualities of her father. Annie gets some golden advice that there is no such thing as a perfect partner, one has to adjust and make compromises to be perfect.
Qamar Zaman (Usman Peerzada) isn’t too happy with the inauguration of the arts and music department. He continues to be sarcastic with his wife and principal Catherine (Saba Hameed). Meanwhile, we see that the students are enjoying painting their hearts on the canvas. Also, a concert takes place where Wahaj (Zarrar Khan) performs brilliantly. On the personal front, his father played by Javed Sheikh is impressed with his vocals. He is satisfied to see him balancing studies and music together.
Ayesha (Washma Fatima) continues her fitness routine with her father. Usman Jutt (Khaqan Shahnawaz) and Ayesha go for lunch and the two quarrel again. The former makes it clear that she isn’t his type and he has no intentions to marry her. Ayesha too shows him the mirror and labels him a fool.
Zara (Mashal Khan) continues to lend her support to Bilal (Shuja Asad). She is aware that there is something wrong with him and he needs help. Maria (Natalia Castillo) has started liking Bilal and secretly follows him. The students perform well in their assessments therefore Sir Qamar Zaman announces a camping trip. They are super excited, pack their bags and go all out to enjoy.
Jahangir (Arsalan Khan) plays a horror prank with Usman and Wahaj and arrives at the venue in awe of Ayesha. Bilal isn’t too happy to see Zara’s bonding with Sir Asad. The episode ends on a sad note when Ayesha gets to know about her father ailing condition.
The beauty of College Gate is that every actor gets equal treatment. We root for the journey of every individual. We are surprised to see the consistency in Khaqan Shahnawaz comic timing. He is too good. Zarrar Khan shines in both fun and emotional sequences. Washma Fatima is a surprise package, she is effortless as a girl with strong family values. Mashal Khan has not just changed the dynamics of RTS College but also mesmerized viewers with her angelic avatar.
All said and done, College Gate is simply a must-watch. The show not just offers loads of entertainment but educates viewers in equal measures.
