So what goes first? Concealer or foundation? Because I genuinely know how many people are confused courtesy all those videos on social media.
There are a couple of things to consider though, like the type of concealer you are using, technique and foundation.
But we’re going to keep it simple. And here’s the right way.
THE FOUNDATION GOES FIRST, HERE’S WHY!
The foundation is supposed to create the perfect canvas for you because it creates an even base to reduce overall redness, discoloration and minor blemishes.
The only except in this case is the COLOR CORRECTOR, which you can use before the foundation. You just dab it in areas where you need an evens skin tone. So you use a primer to cover up those pores for a smooth finish, color correct and then apply the foundation.
The reason you apply foundation and concealer in this order is that it allows you to use less product. When you’ve applied foundation first, you only need small dabs of concealer on the spots that require more coverage. If you were to apply concealer first, blending your foundation on top may wipe the concealer away.
STEP BY STEP FOUNDATION TO CONCEALER
- Prime your face
- Use a color corrector (if needed)
- Apply foundation depending on your skin type (liquid, powder, cream, cc cream foundation)
- Use concealer
- Face powder to set everything
Pro Tip: To brighten your under-eye area, always use a concealer color that’s one to two shades lighter than your skin tone and apply it in upside-down triangle shapes under your eyes. Blend the concealer out with your makeup sponge for a seamless complexion.
