Dil-e-Momin finally went on last night and it was everything fans and audiences had expected it to be. The 7th Sky Entertainment production features Faysal Quraishi and Madiha Imam in lead roles with a strong supporting cast that includes Momal Sheikh, Gohar Rasheed, Jawed Sheikh, Shabbir Jan, Saba Faisal among others. The show is a social romantic drama that tackles college life romances, romance and relationships, and class differences.
The episode introduced us to our lead and supporting characters. Momin is a college lecturer who is religious and spiritual. He belongs to a middle class family who share a close knit bond with each other. He loves Ashi, his cousin who also happens to be his neighbor.
Maya is a typical rich spoiled brat who comes to college in expensive cars and wears expensive clothes. She lives with her mother and has an estranged father. One of her classmates, Gohar, has been in love with her since they were in school but Maya isn’t interested in him. She thinks of him as just another one of her friends and doesn’t like it when Gohar hovers around her.
During Momin’s class, Maya arrives late much to his dismay. He reprimands her which angers Maya.
Ashi’s family visits Momin’s place to congratulate his parents for his new job. Momin leaves because he had to deliver azaan-e-isha in the mosque followed by his father who leaves to offer prayers. This irks Ashi’s father who feels insulted by that.
Gohar confesses his love to Maya who tells him he will end up losing her a friend If he continues to be this way. At the end of the episode, Maya who was angry in the day with Momin can’t help but think about Momin and their first meeting.
