[tps_header]God, I ate too much last night, I feel awful (and guilty)…
I’m unable spend time with my kids as much as I can, am I a bad mother?…
Are you all too familiar with these statements? Perhaps it was a monologue you had while looking at yourself in the mirror. Well, trust me you’re not alone. Women are prone to feeling guilty because you’ve been told and reminded that you are supposed to take care of your loved ones, amp up and run your household whilst taking care of the kids, schedule and run errands because you’re super women, and ensure that the husband’s happy. As a result, you end up feeling guilty for not being able to meet everyone’s expectations and scar your self-confidence with the feelings of inadequacy by harboring a toxic emotion such as “guilt”. BUT there is always a way out, you can stand up for yourself, and consider this, we’re giving your this article as a morale booster!
FOR NOT KEEPING UP WITH THE BEAUTY STANDARDS
Love yourself, period. Why should you want to get rid of the squishy arms and belly pouch if you’re single or a mother of three kids. Today’s beauty standards are mind boggling and should be shunned, but amidst all this, all you need to do is maintain a healthy lifestyle!
SELF-EXPRESSION
I am all about expressing my feelings, in fact I am sort of sucker at it and I take it as my strength. To be able to communicate how I feel is nothing less than a super power because this way I am able to get my message across. So if you’re needy, or feeling hysterical or happy, don’t feel guilty about expressing yourself.
FOR HAVING AMBITIONS
So you’re a mother of two and want to switch from home to corporate, is great. Everyone derives respect from their ambitions, yours wasn’t to be a stay-at-home mom and its absolutely okay!
MAKEUP
Makeup is another way of expressing yourself, it doesn’t mean that you’re at war with your natural self. Who doesn’t love that extra pop of colour on the cheeks! So the next time when you’re stepping out of the house and sporting a red pout, OWN IT!
FOR YOUR LOVE OF FOOD
Food should be a source of comfort, not shame! So, if you’re going to grab that extra slice of chocolate cake, enjoy and just be happy about it.
INDULGING IN A LITTLE PRICEY
Women often tend to think about others (their family) before themselves, but hey, if you love those pants you saw at Mango, get them! There’s no harm in spending on yourself. Love yourself a little!
TO SAY NO
It’s alright to say No once in a while because if there is something you can’t or don’t want to do, or if you have a different point of view, disagree. This way you’re allowing yourself to be in control of what you think is best for you also!
TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF
There’s no harm in a little TLC and/or me time (merely wanting to spend time with yourself doing what you like). Don’t beat yourself for it because you have the right to take care of your mind, your body and you soul![/tps_header]
