Being part of the promotions as a stylist for Jannan meant months of coordination, planning and creating nearly 60 looks for Armeena Rana Khan, the female lead.
This was the scale on which the film was promoted. Crazy right? Releasing against two big films, both with a star studded cast was a bold move in itself since the lead cast of Jannan is relatively new. But when we interviewed them, and got to know them as people we were along with many others absolutely rooting for them!
SIDDY TV: ARMEENA KHAN, BILAL ASHRAF, ALI REHMAN
Whether they have succeeded at charming the audience will be seen tomorrow when the film opens to public. But before that having seen the film (twice) here is what you should expect.
Overall, it’s a decent holiday watch, and a good step for Pakistani Cinema. A star in form of Ali Rehman is born, Bilal Ashraf is definitely the one to watch out for and Armeena is fresh and lovely almost unscathed by commercialism. Hania and Usman Mukhtar will definitely go a long way.
Three cheers for the actors (and the best part) of Jannan. You indeed are Pakistani Cinemas new beloveds.
A BEAUTIFUL CAST
Bilal, Armeena, Ali, Usman, Hania all look great on screen with very relatable characters. The girls could have used a stylist, the guys however managed well with their wardrobe.
THE PASHTUN ‘IT’ FACTOR
Not sure why this was deemed as breaking stereotypes.
Pashtuns are good looking. Check
Pashtuns are hot headed. Check
Pashtuns are brave. Check
Other than what we already know about the race, there was no revelation as such.
AN AVERAGE MUSIC SCORE
It really is not all that it was hyped to be. The title track is the only thing you might remember.
BEAUTIFUL SETTINGS
One thing the film makers have managed to do is show Pakistan, especially Swat the way it deserves to be shown. In all its beauty and charm.
FEEL GOOD FAMILY MOMENTS
Great bonding and chemistry among the cast members translated very well on-screen. A win for actors not necessarily the script.
DECENT COMEDY
Ali Rehman and Usman Mukhtar have a great knack for comedy and are effortless in executing all the punch lines and jokes.
AN ORDINARY SCRIPT
Perhaps expected more from the script after seeing the trailer. Yes the jokes were funny but that was about it. The story line and dialogues didn’t leave a lasting mark and sometimes punch lines seemed forced. We were hoping for some good romantic moments too…
