I don’t think any K-drama be the same without their music because these heart-wrenching, soul-crushing shows with plots and twists that churn you become more meaningful with their music.
I’ve spent sleepless nights watching those pull-hugs (with a background score) or when he fights for his girl with an army of villains with a power packed theme song. That’s exactly what any K-drama would do to you! And KPop is an other world, truly and if you’re delving into this side of music, here are a few OSTs that we’re listening to, on repeat.
Disclaimer: This isn’t the final list, songs from Goblin, Pinnochio, While You Were Sleeping, The Bride of Habaek, Descendants of The Sun, Boys Over Flowers etc, aren’t on the list (including so many more), but that doesn’t mean we don’t listen to them (and I don’t secretly sleep to Eternal Love from Healer). Check this list here
SOMEDAY, THE BLACK SKIRTS
Someday song has to be one of those songs with a happy go lucky vibe from the K-drama, Romance Is A Bonus Book. The Black Skirts is an indie-rock and sailed through the entire show. It’s just one of those songs that stays with you. You’re Beautiful and The Story I Couldn’t see are two other favourite songs from this show.
ORBIT, HAWASA
The acoustic guitar, the power packed vocals of Hawasa and the composition of Orbit from The King: Eternal Monarch definitely has a punch to it. Even though the entire album is a must listen, this song is on top of my list including Gravity by Kim Jong Wang.
MEMORIES OF ALHAMBRA, GEORGE
The heavy acoustics and mix of Spanish music make Memories of Alhambra by George so much meaningful. Their is this distinct Korean vibe to this number.
IN SILENCE, JANETT SUHH
If I were you, I’d obsess over the entire album of It’s Okay To Not Be Okay and it was really hard for me to come down to this song because the entire course of the show is based on situational songs. You’re Cold, In Your Time, Wake Up, Breath etc are also songs that you cannot miss. They make you cry and feel just about everything.
HERE I AM, YERIN BAEK
Yes we all know what a super hit show Crash Landing You was and with it, so were the songs. I feel awful sharing this one with you when all I’ve been doing is listening to the album (another one). Forgive me!
IT’S YOU, JEONG SEWOON
What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim was a show with a soul and so was Parh Seo Joon and Parh Min Ho’s chemistry. And with It’s You in the background move you as you discover secrets and fall in love with these two, is beautiful. Jeong Seweoon is so melodious.
HOW TO SAY, O.WHEN
Suspicious Partner was more than just a show and Ji Chang Wook is more than gorgeous. And this song is the crux of the entire show from their first meeting to figuring out their way towards each other. You just go on with it.
START OVER, GAHO
Start Over holds the ground in Itaewon Class. The composition is just as dramatic as the show itself is. It’s like an anthem you play and get in the mood of.
