So here is a list of our favourite music from last year that tingled our beats in the best possible way. From making us want to groove on desi-beats, to taking us on a sombre trip down memory lane, or reminisce about those fluttering butterflies of first love, 2017 was a year that did not disappoint us because we got to hear some splendid tracks that we played on repeat and have still not had enough. Scroll below!
THE SIBBI SONG BY ABID BROHI & SOMEWHATSUPER
Honestly, guys, you’ve been living under an old rock if you havent grooved on this super-cool track by the super awesome new-kid-on-the-rise that is Abid Brohi. The Sibbi Song (AbidBrohi & SomeWhatSuper), a track by Patari Tabeer.
CHAN KITHAN BY ALI SETHI
Sigh! How could have we compiled this list without penning a few words about everyone’s absolute favourite, the man with the voice of an angel, Ali Sethi. He croons the verses to the age-old Chan Kithan and casts a spell over all ears – young and old alike – with his voice that’s better than caramel on melted marshmallows?
PAAR CHANAA DE BY NOORI & SHILPA RAO
You haven’t fully lived yet if you’re still not familiar with this heartbreakingly beautiful collaboration between the dynamic duo (that is Ali Hamza and Ali Noor) and the ever-amazing Shilpa Rao. Their track, Paar Chanaa De, is a tale of true love lost and the pain that entails after. Needless to say, it left all hearts weeping but praising the musical talents of all involved in producing this masterpiece was pure magic.
GULMAST BY KHUMARIYAN
Musical goosebumps is what the band Khumariyan is all about. These young and talented Pushtoon boys represent native music inherited from their culture and exude a prowess that is nothing but melodious.
SAMBHAL SAMBHAL BY ZEB BANGASH & HAROON SHAHID
This sweet as first love track reminded us of all the wonderful things that take place once one steps into that zone of love for the very first time. A catchy tune, sung by the hugely talented Zeb Bangash and equally impressive Haroon Shahid, “Sambhal Sambhal” is a melodioustrack that we have played over and over again but are still not getting tired of it anytime soon.
