PLBW is one of the most recognized couture weeks in our part of the world. I firmly believe it is going to open a lot of new horizons for the brand- Hamza Bokhari
Hamza Bokhari will be showcasing a capsule collection for his brand ‘JEEM’ as part of the Rising Talent segment at the PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week 2015. He spoke to SiddySays about his upcoming showcase and here is everything we learned:
Do you have a formal degree in fashion?
I graduated from the prestigious Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design in 2012, majoring in Fashion Design.
What is it about the fashion world that drives you?
The constant force to create and evolve.
Which designer do you look up to in the Pakistani Fashion Industry?
I look upto Bunto Kazmi for her impeccable craftsmanship in bridals and Kamiar Rokhni for his old world charm.
Who is your Muse?
Olivia Palermo, Tilda Swinton and Rani Mukherjee.
What is the inspiration behind your collection?
JEEM’s A/W ’15 Bridal collection takes you to a mesmerising journey of Babushka Doll’s visit to our beloved homeland. The pieces are her homage to Pakistan and its rich diverse culture and heritage.
What are the different crafts you have showcased in your collection
Sub continent has the most ancient crafts inspiring me enough to incorporate a lot of our forgotten techniques and have exclusively used them into russian sensibility. These are inclusive of french knots, leather cut works, marori, salma and resham.
Who is the collection for? Describe the woman wearing your designs.
The informed women, the Jeem woman does not really follow the current trends, she rather embodies them.
Why is this showcase important for you?
This is for the very first time Jeem is showcasing the heritage side of our brand
Here is to wishing Hamza Bokhari good luck in his showcase! Meanwhile, stay tuned to our blog, Insta, Periscope and Snapchat for regular updates on the coming fashion week!
