SHE STRONGLY BELIEVES IN REPRESENTING HER ROOTS
Sophia was born in San Diego. She is American-Indian-Muslim and has always wanted to make representation important her career. “It felt like something that was necessary for my moral compass. Instead of making it about me, it could be about something that was bigger than me. I love acting, obviously. It’s so much fun and that’s motivation enough, but to have this other motivator of giving other people the opportunity to see someone onscreen that looks like them, which I didn’t have growing up, it makes me feel good.” quoted Sophia!
SHE DATED TEEN WOLF STAR TYLER POSEY
In 2018, news broke that Sophia and fellow actor Tyler Posey were an item. The two appeared to have a bright future together. At the beginning of their relationship, Tyler even said that he felt Sophia was worth making some changes for. Unfortunately, however, the couple’s’ romance didn’t last long and they broke up 2 years later. They met on the sets of Truth & Dare.
SHE PLAYED DR. DAHLIA QADRI IN GREY’S ANATOMY
Sophia made history on the popular medical show, Grey’s Anatomy for playing the first prominent character in the shows history to wear a hijab, and the shows first hijabi intern from 2017-2019. In a pivotal season 14 episode, Sophia’s character took off her hijab to save a life.
SHE APPEARED IN A MUSIC VIDEO
Sophia as a long list of work to her credit from TV shows to films, so not many know that she starred in a music video also back in 2018, she appeared in the video for Drake Bell’s song, “Honest“. The video has gotten more than 2 million views on YouTube.
SHE IS A PERFORMER & A WRITER
Besides being a performer, she made her debut as a writer in 2019 with the short film, How’s the World Treating You?
